A capstone exhibition for BFA students Krystin Gutierrez and Miranda Molinar, this show features drawings created during their time at Colorado State University. Not your traditional drawings, both artists embrace a more explorative approach and create an intricate world of textures, tattoos, collage, found objects, line, and ornamental mark making. Krystin Gutierrez thematically focuses on space, time, place, and the continuums in between them. Tactile, collaged, and incorporating multiple mediums and found objects, these works reflect her desire to preserve a specific moment in time. Miranda Molinar on the other hand focuses on tattoo art and explores working with various materials to elevate tattoos to the fine art level. Through this she investigates the cultural and ornamental significance they have to her. Although visually unlike one another, the artists in this exhibition create a true continuum, “a continuous sequence in which adjacent elements are not perceptibly different from each other, but the extremes are quite distinct”.
