Erik has been performing and teaching Improv Comedy and Movement for Actors for 30 years. He is a graduate of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and LSU.  He was the Movement Teacher at NOCCA from 2000-2004 where he taught Mime, Body Awareness, Yoga, Tumbling, Stage Combat, Mask, and Improv Movement. From 2004 –2006 he taught Acting and Movement as an adjunct at CSU.  Mr. McAllister  has done 34 local and regional TV Commercials. numerous “Indie” Films, and TV Pilots. He received The Louisiana State Arts Fellowship for his Mime and Movement work in 1989. He was performing with the Improv Troupe “God’s Ben Drinking” at The 2nd Annual Improv Olympics in Hollywood California when they won the award for “Best Out of town Troupe” in 2004. His Improv Class at Art Lab will focus on both short form and long form improv comedy with the goal of a show every few months. The Movement Classes will focus on masks, mime, shadow theater (yes he actually built a shadow stage), and giant inflatable costumes–think Mummenschanz. Again he wants to do shows a few times a year.
