Our friends at Northern Colorado Art News is helping to spread the word to local artists. If you’re ready to take your art to the streets, join the Art Cart brigade.

Fort Collins Artist Bonnie Lebesch is starting a project with Dawn Putney of Artlab called ‘Art Carts”.  They are looking for a few good artists willing to participate next First Friday.

“We want to increase the visibility of artworks and artists in the downtown area during art walk and other prominent events, and so we are starting Pop Up Art Carts! There is a lot going on downtown these days, with tons of people coming to the area to eat, drink, and shop. Yet the art walk does not draw these crowds into the galleries. So we thought we’d bring the art to the public. We want to have art carts stationed in groupings downtown, like in the finished alleyways or square.

And because you are brave creative people, I thought you might be willing to be on our flagship fleet of art carts starting this fall. Actually, starting this October First Friday. (Dawn really is a task-master, I tell you. )

I am lucky in that I have a cart my brother made, and I will add display spaces into it, and finish it too. And Beet Street has a few garden carts that can be borrowed as starter platforms for carts.

Let me know if you will join us!

This picture is my cart as it is… more to come! You care welcome to come to my garage and talk cart ideas! People will have their “carts” in various stages of completion, since this is truly a creative experiment, it can be interpreted in many ways.”
