DESCRIPTION:Kelly Kilmer is an art journaling/mixed media artist and teacher who believes that there is an artist in each and every one of us. Kelly’s classes are designed specifically to bring out that artist through use of paint\, paper\, pens\, and many other tools. During Kelly’s workshops\, you’ll learn bookmaking\, collage\, and painting techniques\, and you’ll use a plethora of journaling prompts to express yourself. Kelly’s workshops are always about inspiring creativity\, generating ideas and learning how to see. The ideas can be translated into a variety of art forms. SUMMARY:Thinking Outside the Studio
DESCRIPTION:“Thinking Outside the Studio” by Jennifer Brakefield and Scott Lenaway showcases the efforts of both artists to experiment with different ways of creating work beyond the traditional in-studio process. Traditional painting and printmaking rely on predictable processes\, perfect lighting and ideal materials. Over the course of the past year and a half the artists have opted to remove the predictability that comes from the safety of working in a studio setting and instead have sought out non-traditional materials\, sources and inspiration. This exhibition includes work made En Plein-Air often with limited materials and palettes\, prints and drawings made on recycled materials and woodcuts made with weathered wood blocks. \nMonday – Wednesday: 10am – 8pm

SUMMARY:Embracing my Shadow\, Dancing my Light
DESCRIPTION:Elle-je’ Freeheart is a prolific sculptor\, artiste\, writer\, and artistic authority of emotional portraiture. Her figurative sculptures reflect a love of altered realism with an ominous presence where the “unattractive” are beautiful\, and shadows move into light. Her figures appear as if they were found in deep\, dark\, deserted places\, unseen and forgotten by human eyes. Using the female form as a record and witness of life\, her sculptural work becomes narrative. The women are layered with evidence of experiences\, thoughts\, patterns\, emotions and history. The inherent spirit of the feminine embraces shadow and dances with light\, coiling and recoiling through life’s expression. \n“Blessed are the weird people– poets\, misfits\, writers\, mystics\, painters\, troubadours– for they teach us to see the world through different eyes.”
