DESCRIPTION:Rachel Garrison and Amanda Rooms are both painting concentrations at Colorado State University. Below are brief overviews of their works: \nRachel Garrison: I have always enjoyed our ability to use our imagination to create characters and worlds different from our own\, which is what I employ in my paintings. By emphasizing imagination\, spontaneity\, and play in my work\, I have found great understanding in who I am. My paintings take on forms of imaginative randomness\, with each addition containing a glimpse of intentionality and feelings. They became reflections of my whole self\, which is quite messy. Allowing myself to be free in my work has given me a window to see myself and how I operate. Art-making became an interaction with my outward self\, my inner self\, and my canvas\, all tangled into one conversation. \nAmanda Rooms: The pieces displayed follow my process of conceptualizing my generation’s experience with the unsolicited video. Unsolicited videos are videos you fall upon when scrolling. They depict imagery the viewer may not consent to consuming. I view unsolicited videos as portals that our innocence slowly and unsuspectingly falls through\, taking a piece of us every time. Being curious is in our human nature. Looking away is not easy. Whether it was a friend showing a classmate porn\, or landing upon a beheading\, digital natives grew up surrounded by this imagery. \nViewing unsolicited videos inches us closer to desensitizing ourselves from the world around us. It’s an unavoidable experience for anyone born into the world of the internet.

DESCRIPTION:Brian Raftery is graduating this semester as a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Concentrations in Graphic Design and Printmaking. Here is a statement from the artist regarding their capstone show: \nMy work as a printmaker is centered around my fascination with the overlaps between the digital and analog world. Technology is something that I grew up with in a way that the generations that came before me didn’t. My relationship with this technology has shaped me in very complex ways\, and analyzing this connection has inspired me to create work that references nostalgic imagery associated with the computers of the 2000’s. My process involves the digital manipulation of this imagery that I am able to deconstruct even more through post-digital processes (like cyanotype and laser-engraved wood or stone). The manipulation of this imagery through various methods is representative of the human experience in several different ways. While the works presented in this show have very personal meanings for me\, I invite the audience to attach their own meanings to the works. \nThe show will begin at 6PM on Wednesday\, May 3rd and will be open until 9PM. Any updates regarding opening festivities or anything else related to the show will be posted on Brian’s instagram: @hellionstudios

SUMMARY:Sound Bath: A Journey to the Self
DESCRIPTION:A Sound Bath is a deeply-immersive\, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle\, yet powerful\, therapeutic and restorative processes to NURTURE YOUR MIND\,BODY\, and SPIRIT. \nWe begin our time together with a few minutes of intention setting\, self reflection\, and guided breath\, while the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including chimes\, gong\, shruti box\, Quartz crystal singing bowls\, and voice. \nWhen you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening\, you allow your brain waves to slow\, shifting from a more active state to a deeply relaxed\, dreamlike state. This is the art and practice of deep listening. \nThe sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness\, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation\, and explore self-inquiry and self-discovery. \nFacilitated by Lauren Smith (500RYT\, 100hr Sound Facilitator)\, Lauren has hosted many sound and yoga retreats all over Colorado and beyond. It is a cornerstone of the foundation of Longevity to provide a free space for people to enjoy art and meet like-minded people along the way. Each month will have a local featured artist showcasing their works and vision\, as well as up to 10 other curated artists adding to the exhibit. Each event will feature lo-fi music from local producers & collaborative spaces. We invite you to come to meet other creatives just like you and get involved in the community!

All Levels\n\nSaturday & Sunday 10am $11\n\nWe will be closing out this blissful event with a heart Centered Cacao Ceremony followed by a healing Sound Bath!\n\nSunday\nCacao Ceremony 6pm-7:30pm $17\nSound Bath 7:30pm-9pm $17\n$30 for both!
