The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including chimes\, gong\, shruti box\, Quartz crystal singing bowls\, and voice.\nWhen you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening\, you allow your brain waves to slow\, shifting from a more active state to a deeply relaxed\, dreamlike state. SUMMARY:Cultivation: A Collection
DESCRIPTION:Drawn to the natural processes and cycles within the environment\, I focus on parallels that echo through the universe. My interdisciplinary background drives me to bring art into science and science into art. Autodidactic habits cause me to constantly seek out new information. The more I learn about the world and everything around me\, the more beautiful it becomes. Inspired by the natural world and complex scientific concepts\, I convey information through diagrammatic illustrations. My practice is just as varied as my knowledge base. I particularly gravitate toward drawing\, painting\, and printmaking\, but I find it refreshing to use different mediums. Each has unique properties and rules that dictate expression that force me to think and articulate myself in different ways. \nMy previous stage in art was that of discovery and experimentation: learning what was out there and how to incorporate elements into my own practice. The present moment is that of refinement and evolution: discovering more about my surrounding environment and cultivating my own creative practice. I don’t feel as if I have “a style” yet. I’m not fluent in one visual language\, but instead variable in scope. \nThis is my first independent exhibition. \nAt first it was daunting. I felt as if I must put my “best work” forward. I was plagued with figuring out how to start: my series\, my portfolio\, my practice — this show. However\, my art isn’t the same\, nor will it ever be the same as it is in this moment\, so I should just relish in the discovery and journey of the moment. \nThe only way to progress is to begin.

SUMMARY:Cultivation: A Collection
DESCRIPTION:Drawn to the natural processes and cycles within the environment\, I focus on parallels that echo through the universe. My interdisciplinary background drives me to bring art into science and science into art. Autodidactic habits cause me to constantly seek out new information. The more I learn about the world and everything around me\, the more beautiful it becomes. Inspired by the natural world and complex scientific concepts\, I convey information through diagrammatic illustrations. My practice is just as varied as my knowledge base. I particularly gravitate toward drawing\, painting\, and printmaking\, but I find it refreshing to use different mediums. Each has unique properties and rules that dictate expression that force me to think and articulate myself in different ways. \nMy previous stage in art was that of discovery and experimentation: learning what was out there and how to incorporate elements into my own practice. The present moment is that of refinement and evolution: discovering more about my surrounding environment and cultivating my own creative practice. I don’t feel as if I have “a style” yet. I’m not fluent in one visual language\, but instead variable in scope. \nThis is my first independent exhibition. \nAt first it was daunting. I felt as if I must put my “best work” forward. I was plagued with figuring out how to start: my series\, my portfolio\, my practice — this show. However\, my art isn’t the same\, nor will it ever be the same as it is in this moment\, so I should just relish in the discovery and journey of the moment. \nThe only way to progress is to begin.

SUMMARY:Sound Bath: A Journey to the Self
DESCRIPTION:A Sound Bath is a deeply-immersive\, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle\, yet powerful\, therapeutic and restorative processes to NURTURE YOUR MIND\,BODY\, and SPIRIT. \nWe begin our time together with a few minutes of intention setting\, self reflection\, and guided breath\, while the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including chimes\, gong\, shruti box\, Quartz crystal singing bowls\, and voice. \nWhen you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening\, you allow your brain waves to slow\, shifting from a more active state to a deeply relaxed\, dreamlike state. This is the art and practice of deep listening. \nThe sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness\, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation\, and explore self-inquiry and self-discovery. \nFacilitated by Lauren Smith (500RYT\, 100hr Sound Facilitator)\, Lauren has hosted many sound and yoga retreats all over Colorado and beyond. Lauren uses guided breath work and various instruments to help lull you off to a state of deep relaxation.
