SUMMARY:Community Sound Bath at the Art Lab
DESCRIPTION:A Sound Bath is a deeply-immersive\, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle\, yet powerful\, therapeutic and restorative processes to NURTURE YOUR MIND\,BODY\, and SPIRIT. \nWe begin our time together with a few minutes of intention setting\, self reflection\, and guided breath\, while the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including chimes\, gong\, shruti box\, Quartz crystal singing bowls\, and voice. \nWhen you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening\, you allow your brain waves to slow\, shifting from a more active state to a deeply relaxed\, dreamlike state. This is the art and practice of deep listening. \nThe sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness\, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation\, and explore self-inquiry and self-discovery. Upcoming Sound Baths: All Sound Baths are held at the Art Lab on the first Wednesday of every month. DESCRIPTION:Up In the Clouds will be a visual art exhibition\, with dreamy cloud immersion. Visitors find themselves in this world of illuminated clouds while finding new artwork from the artists on display\, including prismatic/holographic alcohol ink artworks\, etched mirrors\, sculptures and other ethereal objects. The front gallery space will display hanging artworks\, and an interactive artwork for visitors to participate in. The backspace of the gallery will be open for sharing with workshops and we hope to plan a workshop ourselves\, to be announced later. SUMMARY:Friends of Lakota Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Join us on February 28th from 5:30-9pm for an evening of celebrating local artists and supporting Friends of Lakota Animal Sanctuary! We will be displaying photographs of the horses and donkeys at the sanctuary and sharing their story with you\, as well as displaying local artists’ work for sale. The profits from any photographs sold will go to help feed the animals and cover medical costs. Even if you opt not to purchase any artwork\, donations offered to the sanctuary will get you raffle tickets to a basket of handmade goodies!\n\n\n\n\nFriends of Lakota is a nonprofit sanctuary for horses and donkeys in Nunn\, Colorado that provides a resting place free of fear and neglect for horses. Many of our animals come from kill buyers or meat auctions\, and require lots of love and TLC. Often they have serious medical conditions that can require costly and extensive medical care. Many rescues seek to rehome healthy animals\, but one of the things that makes Friends of Lakota unique is that we provide a home for the older and sick animals that are usually overlooked. Our goal with this event is to not only support Friends of Lakota\, but to also raise awareness of the issues around kill lots and discarded animals.
