SUMMARY:Faith and Fortitude: Fort Collins’ Earliest Hispanic Families
DESCRIPTION:With a mix of portraits and documentary photographs\, “Faith and Fortitude: Fort Collins’ Earliest Hispanic Families\,” is a glimpse into the lives of the descendants of Fort Collins’ earliest Hispanic families\, capturing life at home\, in neighborhoods and places of worship. \nTanya B. Fabian is the 2019 recipient of TheDocumentaryProjectFund’s Mountain West Regional Award\, a grant designated for a community-based photography project in a western state.  She was awarded this grant for “Faith and Fortitude: Fort Collins’ Earliest Hispanic Families.” \nThis exhibit is the story of the descendants of migrants from many decades ago (50-plus years) and how they have created a strong foundation for today’s thriving Northern Colorado city. The history of Fort Collins’ longtime Hispanic population is unfamiliar to much of the community\, now more than 80% white and 50% under the age of 44.  These families of early founders live hidden lives in the city their ancestors helped create. \nThe families documented in this exhibit traveled north from New Mexico\, leaving isolated villages to find work in sugar factories and beet fields.  Others migrated from different southwestern states and Mexico.  Today\, these families are a dynamic mix of cultures and traditions. \nExhibition Open Hours:\n6 p.m. to 9 p.m.\, Friday\, November 5\n3 p.m. to 7 p.m.\, Saturday and Sunday\, November 6 and 7\n2 p.m. to 5 p.m.\, Monday\, November 8\n3 p.m. to 9 p.m.\, Tuesday\, November 9  (tentative)\nWednesday\, November 10th and Thursday\, November 11th TBD\n6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday\, November 12\n3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday\, November 13 and 14\n2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday\, November 15th \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a monthly women’s book study thru conversation + art.\nWe will be exploring the myths and stories presented in Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés timeless work\, Women Who Run With the Wolves. \nWe will incorporate Art Journalling as the medium to unpack and process these themes in our own lives. Each month\, on the second Saturday of the month\, around the new moon we will gather to begin our own personal exploration of the myths and stories of the wild woman archetype.
