Join us on February 28th from 5:30-9pm for an evening of celebrating local artists and supporting Friends of Lakota Animal Sanctuary! We will be displaying photographs of the horses and donkeys at the sanctuary and sharing their story with you, as well as displaying local artists’ work for sale. The profits from any photographs sold will go to help feed the animals and cover medical costs. Even if you opt not to purchase any artwork, donations offered to the sanctuary will get you raffle tickets to a basket of handmade goodies!
Friends of Lakota is a nonprofit sanctuary for horses and donkeys in Nunn, Colorado that provides a resting place free of fear and neglect for horses. Many of our animals come from kill buyers or meat auctions, and require lots of love and TLC. Often they have serious medical conditions that can require costly and extensive medical care. Many rescues seek to rehome healthy animals, but one of the things that makes Friends of Lakota unique is that we provide a home for the older and sick animals that are usually overlooked. Our goal with this event is to not only support Friends of Lakota, but to also raise awareness of the issues around kill lots and discarded animals.
