“Thinking Outside the Studio” by Jennifer Brakefield and Scott Lenaway showcases the efforts of both artists to experiment with different ways of creating work beyond the traditional in-studio process. Traditional painting and printmaking rely on predictable processes, perfect lighting and ideal materials. Over the course of the past year and a half the artists have opted to remove the predictability that comes from the safety of working in a studio setting and instead have sought out non-traditional materials, sources and inspiration. This exhibition includes work made En Plein-Air often with limited materials and palettes, prints and drawings made on recycled materials and woodcuts made with weathered wood blocks.
