Event Series Event Series: Winter Beginner’s Photography Class

Join a small group of new photographers who want to make the most of their DSLR.

In this digital photography class you’ll learn how to get the most from your investment in your camera. This class is designed for anyone new to photography who may not completely understand things like aperture, shutter speed, or how to control the brightness or movement within your photos.  Understanding more about how your camera works will unleash your creativity and enjoyment of digital photography.  The class will meet once a week for 6 weeks, two hours each day (12 hours total).  There will also be possible field trips outside of the normal class times depending on interest, weather etc.  The class will culminate in a gallery showing in Old Town during the March First Friday Gallery Walk where students will be able to display their favorite piece during a gallery showing for friends and family to enjoy.

Topics covered will include:

  • Camera mechanics – the how and why
  • Shutter speed, aperture and ISO
  • Capturing the right amount of light
  • Basic composition
  • Movement, mood and lighting
  • Hands on practice indoors and outdoors (weather permitting)
  • Basic post processing in Lightroom

Dates, Times and Location: Class will be on Saturday mornings, 9am – 11am starting January 13th, 2018 at Art Lab.  The First Friday Gallery Walk and showing will be Friday March 2, 2018 at Bob Younger Images Studio and Gallery at 237 Linden Street in Old Town Fort Collins..

Costs: $180 for the classes (12 hours) and any additional field trips that may be offered.  The cost does not include printing for the gallery showing but deep discounts will be available through my website.

Fine Print: Each student should have a DSLR with the capability to change lenses. Only one camera and lens is required for the class. Cancellation and 100% refund is available up to two weeks prior to class start. The instructor will try his best to trouble shoot issues with cameras as they come up but in the interest of the class those may have to be dealt with outside of class time.
