FAQ.
— What can I expect from attending a session? —
These beginner-friendly workshops will be 90-120 minute workshops consisting of short exercises, warm-ups, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” type-of games, and potentially some long-form (a la UCB, Second City, etc.). We’ll go get a drink or meal afterwards!
— Who’s Gus? —
Hello, I’m Gus! I’ve taught improv for over 9 years. I used to run a 350+ improv community out in Morrisville, North Carolina. I’ve taught thousands of students and perform locally in Fort Collins with my troupe, Scam Likely. I also run improv workshops for professional skills, such as public speaking, social cohesion, and organic communication.
— What if I’m not quick on my feet? —
You don’t have to be. Mistakes become opportunities. The bolder the choice, the better. You will be celebrated for not being quick on your feet.
— I’m scared. —
Give it one class. Anything worth doing is initially scary. I like to say “You’ve already done the hardest part: fighting traffic to get here. It’s my responsibility as an instructor to make sure the rest of the night goes smoothly for you.”
— I don’t want to perform publicly. —
This will not be a public performance. This will be a private session with other Meetuppers. This is “Improv in Private” – where you practice the skills, not on stage.
Got a different question? Send me (Gus) a direct message on Meetup.
