Yūgen is a Japanese aesthetic concept that essentially means “a profound, mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe …and the sad beauty of human suffering” That being said, this body of work was focused on exploring themes of beauty, tragedy, power, and personal identity. By exposing the human spirit through my own unique lens, I hope to push the viewer to question their own relationship to such themes.
