Join Marna this Friday as she opens her first exhibition at Art Lab Fort Collins. Some beautiful words from Marna about her work:
I love color and texture and shape. The way it feels to put paint on the canvas, to make something emerge from nothing is beautiful. I like for each viewer to have their own experience with my contribution being the visual. When there is no title, I can look at a painting and have a lovely experience of, say, an aging Latino revolutionary and the person next to me can see, in the same painting, a great likeness to his uncle Joe. I love that. I love the way some people need to see objects in abstracts (and always find them) while some are completely happy and satisfied with color and texture and the sense of something. And I suppose that something is what I am out to capture.
Marna is an artist, mother and pre-school teacher in Fort Collins, her home for 21 years. Her acrylic paintings have been on display in Fort Collins and Boulder. Marna comes from a family of artists including her mother Dianne and her brother Bryce.
