Suzuki music students share their music with Art Lab visitors.

These musicians, aged four and up, study violin, cello and classical guitar with private Suzuki music teachers in the Fort Collins area.

The Suzuki method of music education was developed in Japan over forty years ago. The method follows the general principals of language acquisition and involves creating a nurturing musical environment for all students. Some of the special features of the Suzuki approach are parent involvement, loving encouragement, constant repetition, listening and group classes.

Suzuki instrumental instruction is a method by which children can start young to learn, along with a parent “home teacher”. They learn first by ear and later by ear work and note reading, to play well known tunes and classical selections. Many different instruments are taught by this method. I teach violin and viola. Several different teachers bring their students to play at our Friday Play-ins at the Art Lab.
