Vandelay Industries formed in the summer of 2009 as young men covering rock songs in a tiny room in the mountains of Colorado. With influences like Brand NewManchester Orchestra, and Say Anything the band easily built up a following and began playing shows in Denver, Fort Collins, and Boulder.
In June of 2011, Vandelay released their first professionally recorded EP, Critter. Critter was tracked at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado and produced by punk legend Bill Stevenson. The 4 song EP was well received and Bree Davies of Westword magazine referred to the release as something you could expect to hear on a lost Weezer B side.
After the Critter release the band spent a year playing shows in support of the album and honing in on a more mature sound.
In the summer of 2012 Vandelay signed with Mountain Size Records and began working on a 2013 vinyl release at Evergroove Studio.
