Outlet – avant garde jazz duo
with Aakash Mittal & Josh Moore

The Art Lab is in for a treat — Outlet will be performing avant garde jazz. You have to hear it to believe it. So grab the kids and head to the Art Lab to see these phenomenal jazz musicians in action.

Outlet is an avant garde free jazz duo comprised of Aakash Mittal (Woodwinds) and Josh Moore (Drums). While this is the Outlet debut public performance Aakash and Josh have been playing together as an experimental duo for 6 years.  The name of the project comes from the term “out” which jazz musicians use to mean outside of the box or out side of conventional musical structures and the idea of the project being an outlet of free unstructured improvisation.  The performance by Outlet at the Art Lab will be a unique musical experience of improvised music.

People are talking about Aakash Mittal:

“Aakash Mittal stands to make a significant contribution to modern jazz.” says Rudresh Mahanthappa, internationally acclaimed performer, composer, an d Guggenheim fellow.

American Landscapes
Patrick Zoller – week 2
September 11th & 12th

Crater Lake

Patrick Zoller will be making great use of the Art Lab space for a second weekend with his American Landscapes. Love the concept of mixing Jazz and Landscapes. We’re sure Patrick will be inspired by the sweet sounds filling the Lab this weekend. Stop by and check it out for yourself.

Here’s what Patrick had to say about his work:

I am happy to call Fort Collins my new home. For the past 30 years so many of my landscape paintings have been inspired by this portion of the country. It is very important for me to share these paintings. I feel it is essential to our survival that we stop and appreciate the beauty around us. Landscapes hold a deep-seeded comfort for those who “see” and “remember to remember”.

The foundation of what I live to do, Paint Our American Landscapes, is happiness. The painting has to bring a smile and “that feeling” to you or the image is not for that individual.

I invite you to view my work in area galleries and on my website: http://www.patrickzoller.com/
